Kentucky’s Premier Powerboat Events
Lake Cumberland is home to not one but two world-class poker runs every summer — both hosted at State Dock Marina in Jamestown and both drawing tens of thousands of spectators and hundreds of high-performance boats from across the country. Whether you’re a dedicated powerboat enthusiast or just want to experience the electric atmosphere of one of the Southeast’s most exciting water events, these are weekends unlike anything else in Kentucky.
A poker run is a boating event where participants travel by powerboat between multiple checkpoints on the lake, drawing a playing card at each stop. The best poker hand at the end wins big prizes — but the real draw is the spectacle of the boats themselves. Think 50-foot offshore catamarans, twin-engine go-fast boats, and some of the loudest, fastest, most jaw-dropping watercraft you’ve ever seen, all roaring across one of the most beautiful lakes in the country.
A-Frame of Mind is just 15–20 minutes from State Dock, making it the perfect home base for attending either event. Book early — cabins fill up weeks in advance during poker run weekends.
